About Us

History

Our story starts in a period where the world came to a standstill due to the outbreak of Covid-19.

Community Health Advocates Association of Wakiso District was initiated during the Covid-19 period in 2020 as an idea among young peers due to the increasing number of girls who were getting pregnant due to sexual abuse by men and boys in our community and/or their own fathers and brothers. The initiative started as a non-funded campaign among the young peers who visited local council one chairpersons’ offices to hold them accountable for the surging issue.

In due course, a renowned organization identified the young peers due to the impact we created in the community and strengthened our capacity by facilitating the process of our registration into a formal community based organization to implement a joint Advocacy Program on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Uganda.
